The Chief Administrative Officer is the senior management person responsible for the effective and efficient operational and administrative management of Galen Medical Group.
They will work closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement long-term and short-term strategies designed to ensure the continued success of the organization.
Specific duties will include strategic planning, business development, marketing, capital and operating budget development and implementation, recruitment of physicians and other necessary clinical service providers, developing proper physical facilities and equipment, and providing the structure, systems, and technology necessary to measure and ensure that quality of care, patient safety, and financial goals are consistently met.
The Chief Administrative Officer will effectively communicate and interact with all physician shareholders, associates, leaders of local hospitals and third-party payers, and other business and community leaders at the highest level to ensure support for Galen Medical Groups' clinical and financial strategies and goals.
Responsibilities
- Implement the plans and goals approved by the Board of Directors; work in close communication with them and the Chairman to ensure transparency in all matters.
- Work closely with the Board and Chairman to develop the vision and long-term strategic direction; define and implement tactics to achieve this vision.
- Monitor the healthcare environment and local trends to identify possible changes that could impact Galen Medical Group as well as recommend appropriate responses.
- Develop and negotiate synergistic contractual arrangements with local hospitals and third-party payers that help preserve and reinforce Galen’s mission and vision.
- Maximize the financial success of shareholders, including operating and capital budget preparation and implementation, contractual negotiations, cash collection and management, productivity optimization, ensuring effective cost controls, and an efficient, lean organizational structure.
- Research and propose innovative, entrepreneurial business approaches and opportunities to enhance and expand the mission.
- Coordinate, manage, and be knowledgeable of the day-to-day operations of all departments to ensure that goals and objectives are achieved.
- Ensure that all managers and associates are properly trained, motivated, and directed to enthusiastically execute financial and business plans.
- Foster a corporate culture that values behavior and service that is ethical, empathetic, honest, and responsive; build a team approach.
Assist and advise in developing clinical leadership.
- Maintains a collaborative style that fosters open communication and consensus building; team-oriented,and collegial style.
- Assist shareholders and affiliated physicians and clinical staff to develop and implement plans, programs, processes, policies, and procedures to measure and continually improve patient care, quality, and safety.
- Facilitate communication, problem-solving, and idea exchange among and between shareholders, managers, and associates so that all parties feel respected and heard and systems and procedures are enhanced.
- Must be fair and objective when dealing with managers, staff, and physicians.
- A team builder and motivator; who leads by example.
- Maintain confidence, interpersonal skills, and approachability, to foster a positive and engaging work environment, while building rapport with colleagues and improving teamwork and communication.
- Along with the Chairman, represent Galen Medical Group at appropriate professional, civic, social, and media functions to properly foster Galen’s interests and image.
- Respond promptly to requests from the Chairman and the shareholders for information, reports, statistics, and financial information.
