The Role
The Sr. Customer Insights & Analytics Manager will be responsible for building and growing strategic relationships at Walmart.
This customer-facing role will work closely with the Sales Director in the execution of the holistic strategy. Primary responsibility will be to provide insights and recommendations on assortment, space, promotions, display, segmentation / flow.
The role will provide recommendations to grow both our respective business and the category simultaneously and will be responsible for accelerating strategic and tactical thought leadership.
This person will be responsible for delivering team growth objectives, partner on category reviews, monthly performance tracking, and be the trusted partner for the customer.
This individual will partner with key retailer decision makers aligning on priorities, insight needs and whitespace identification to drive strategic retailer partnerships forward.
Proficiency in the use of point-of-sale and analytical tools to create clear actionable category recommendations will be key to the success in this role.
This position will be based remotely and each remote employee comes to our Emeryville, California headquarters at least quarterly for various meetings, such as annual departmental team building and planning meetings, annual plan kick-off all-hands meeting, quarterly state-of-the-company updates, or other large cross-functional meetings.
The expected pay scale for this role is $125k to $135k, which may vary based on relevant experience, qualifications, geographic area (if applicable), and internal equity for the role.

- Strategic customer centric development to identify risks and opportunities and influence assortment and program execution with the customer
- Provide insights and category recommendations to drive brand and category growth
- Educate both internally and externally on trends and opportunity gaps at customer level
Customer Level Insights : 50% of Time
- Develop customer-specific category vision stories. Help provide insights and customize the National PNC Category Selling story
- Analyze customer and market data to provide strategic assortment, space, and merchandising recommendations based off internal and external insights
- Work cross functionally with internal HQ category, Sales Planning, and Marketing on new item development and sell stories based on customer level category insights
- Competitive analysis reporting out both internally and externally
- Proactively develop collaborative relationships with our retail partner and be viewed as a trusted resource for category insights and objective growth opportunities
- Advise on category and shopper centric opportunities to grow market share
- Develop category strategy and assists customer with integrated category strategy development
Strategic Planning : 30% of Time
- Partner with customer on evolving category vision. Work with customer to implement actionable change
- Responsible for developing customer specific presentations with relevant consumer insights, competitive responses, and new item / category selling strategies
- Maintain reporting as well as current trends and gaps for both Customer and internal stakeholders
- Inform the customer on our business and trends happening in competitive categories across the marketplace
Annual plans development and implementation : 20% of Time
- Actively lead and participate in preparation of line reviews and reoccurring customer connects, JBP meetings, and T2T meetings
- Actively participate in internal business reviews and annual plan development
Qualifications
What are we looking for?
Education :
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Experience :
- 5+ years of relevant Sales experience within Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry
- Experienced with Retail Link and Luminate
- Proficient with Data analytics and systems (IRI / Circana)
- Proficient experience with reporting tools, Excel, PowerPoint and reporting analytics
- Financial impact analysis / ROI reporting
- Effective short- and long-term forecasting capabilities
Skills :
- Must be willing to travel up to 20% (Qtrly HQ Meetings, Annual Planning, Market Visits and any other cross functional project meetings as needed)
- Independent, self-driven individual with the ability to build vs. manage
- Creative with a desire for continuous improvement
