This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis.

Departments or divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises.

The minimum of one of the following awarded / conferred from a regionally accredited institution :

Master’s in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics / family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development / early childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development / early childhood education, OR

2. Bachelor’s in any of the above

3. Master’s in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual / bicultural education, life management / home economics, family life studies or family and consumer studies OR the equivalent

B. Commitment to the community college goals / objectives of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse abilities and interests;

personal qualities to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment; awareness and commitment to the special needs of non-traditional students. Preferred Qualifications

  • Communicate effectively to students orally and in writing
  • Experience teaching Child Development / Early Childhood Education courses preferably at the community college level.
  • Experience supervising early education workforce preparation practicum or field experiences.
  • Experience teaching in early childhood educational settings for children ages 0-8.
  • Ability to communicate curriculum meaningfully for students with diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to teach on campus in person classes.
  • A firm commitment to the needs of students with diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds and levels of ability with multi-cultural teaching experience.

License(s) & Other Requirements Working Environment : Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • The instructor will teach classes within the approved discipline
  • Instruct and support students with diverse backgrounds utilizing culturally relevant andragogy, careful preparation of course materials and effective in-person teaching methods
  • This position could invlove in-person assignments during day and evenings
  • Utilize approved textbooks and following the course objectives, course content, and evaluation standards
  • Maintains the scheduled days and class hours as listed in the class schedule
  • Creates and submits course syllabus to the Division office at the start of each semester
  • Gives final exams in each class according to the official schedule of days, times, and locations
  • Work collegially with full-time faculty and staff
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
