Job Description :
- Capture, Document, and Maintain Configuration Items :
- As part of operational activities, your role involves capturing, documenting, and maintaining configuration items across all Vendor Service Areas.
These items could include hardware, software, network components, and other relevant assets.
- Properly managing configuration items ensures consistency, traceability, and accurate information about the IT environment.
- Collect Configuration Item Requirements :
- You’ll collaborate with stakeholders (such as developers, testers, and production teams) to gather requirements for different environments (development, test, and production).
- Understanding these requirements helps tailor the configuration management process to meet specific needs.
- Collaborate with Relevant Stakeholders :
- Effective communication with service providers and other stakeholders is crucial. You’ll work together to establish automated process interfaces for incident management, problem management, change management, disaster recovery, and asset management.
- These interfaces streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
- Authorization Controls and Compliance :
- Ensuring appropriate authorization controls is essential. You’ll collaborate with client stakeholders to verify compliance with software licensing and prevent unauthorized changes.
- Compliance helps maintain security and adherence to standards.
- Process Enhancement and Deficiency Identification :
- You’ll create or enhance processes related to configuration management. This includes verifying the accuracy of configuration items and identifying any process deficiencies.
- Continuous improvement ensures better management practices.
- Guidelines for Environment Separation :
- If guidelines for separating environments (e.g., development, test, and production) don’t exist, you’ll review and establish them.
- Proper separation prevents unintended impacts and promotes stability.
- Configuration Management Reports and Corrective Actions :
- Providing configuration management reports as required by the client is part of your role.
- If non-compliance is detected, you’ll execute corrective actions or plans to address the issue promptly.
- Tracking and Flagging Non-Conforming Configurations :
- You’ll monitor configurations to ensure they align with client-defined standards.
- Flagging exceptions (such as unapproved non-standard configurations) allows for timely remediation.
