Job DescriptionDivision / Program Summary Description : The Division of Family and Child Health (DFCH) of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is charged with the creation and oversight of programs, policies, services, and environments that support physical and socio-emotional health, and promote primary and reproductive health services, health equity, social justice, safety and well-being for New York City families and children.

The Division is comprised of the Bureau of Maternal Infant and Reproductive Health, the Bureau of Early Intervention, the Office of School Health, and the Bureau of Administration.

Position Summary : Job Duties and Responsibilities : Become fully trained in the NFHV home visiting program and support the citywide implementation of the program including recruitment staff training and protocol development.

Assist in training and evaluating new staff in the NFHV program, eventually being responsible for certification and fidelity of all staff to the protocol.

Track visiting rates and nurses’ fidelity to the home visiting protocol through the use of computer-generated reports and dyadic supervisory home visits.

Provide group / peer as well as reflective supervision to nursing staff.Work with team to ensure appropriate referrals and connections to community resources as needed.

Identify gaps in community services that may be addressed by local partners.Communicate regularly with local stakeholders with updates on the progress of the program.

Coordinate assignments to the nurses to provide home visiting services for eligible families referred by program staffCoordinate staff meetings for case review and in-service training.

Supervise nursing staff and conduct quality assurance visits with supervised staff.Collaborate with members from the program team to identify, engage and establish relationships with referral partners and other agencies / organizations providing services to pregnant and parenting familiesOversee the PS and OTPS line items related to nursing needsBe open and flexible in establishing a new program with many unknowns in a new community with infrastructure challenges.

  • nyc.gov or 347-396-6549.QualificationsA valid New York state license as a Registered Nurse, a baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited college and a master's degree in Nursing, Public Health or a related field, plus four years of recent experience in public health or hospital nursing or a related field;
  • at least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive, consultative or educational capacity, or in supervision of professional public health nursing personnel working in any of the above mentioned areas;
  • orEducation and / or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must possess a valid New York State license as a Registered Nurse, and a baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited college;
