AARP's Integrated Communications and Marketing (ICM) Group includes Membership, Content and Editorial, Customer Experience, External Relations, Brand Strategy and Strategic Communications.

Across paid, earned, shared and owned channels, ICM manages AARP's reputation, drives engagement and member growth, and showcases AARP's mission and value through one, integrated voice.

The Vice President of Communications leads the execution of multi-channel communication strategies to raise awareness and drive engagement with AARP.

This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to align communications with strategic business objectives, sets communications priorities and an annual communications calendar to achieve enterprise goals.

The VP manages a staff and manages an annual communications budget tied to strict outcomes. The role identifies trends, resolves systemic issues across functions, and ensures seamless collaboration within a matrixed environment.

Serving as a representative on internal working groups, the VP manages high-level strategic projects across the organization, providing advice, support, and coordination.

Acting as a liaison, they work to resolve issues and ensure the successful implementation of company initiatives. Additionally, the VP partners with senior leadership to develop long-term strategic communication plans, utilizing both internal and external resources to enhance the organization's visibility and impact.

The VP reports to the SVP, Integrated Communications, in Integrated Communications & Marketing.

Responsibilities

Provides leadership and helps oversee and coordinate the development and framing of messages on priority issues to support organizational priorities.

Supports the team's work by mobilizing resources and developing and leveraging strategic relationships within the organization and external organizations.

Develops a team through visionary leadership, establishing strategic direction, building organizational talent, and empowering others.

Manages communications in all media to effectively convey approved messaging to drive action among intended audience (e.g.

organization staff and volunteer leadership, key policymakers and elected officials, opinion leaders, organization activists, the general public, and the media).

Manages the synthesis of a wide range of information on priority issues and works with colleagues across the organization to ensure that information is communicated in a way that effectively and efficiently drives action.

Directs efforts to design communication tools to ensure that staff, volunteers, and key leaders are fully engaged and aware of the range and scope of priority activities.

Ensures alignment of external communications with organization policy.Qualifications

10+ years of experience in communications.Strong background in budget management.Demonstrated experience in leading and managing teams.

Expertise in strategic planning and execution.Proficient in data analysis and reporting.Proven track record of highly effective collaboration across teams.

Experience with enterprise-level strategic planning.Bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, or a related field.AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time.

Hybrid Work Environment

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
