The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst 2 performs computer applications and / or database design, development, and implementation services for departmental users utilizing GIS technology;

supports the GIS environment, policies and procedures, standards, and the accuracy and consistency of the GIS informationESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : Develop and deliver information products : maps, charts, reports, and other exhibits.

Develops and maintains enterprise and workgroup-level GIS applications and databases, creating spatial analysis procedures and producing mapping products in response to business unit needs.

Collect information from various databases; processes reformats and provides accompanying analyses to stakeholders. Creates processes and scripts for use in importing data from multiple sources, or data collection in the field;

develops enhancements to existing GIS software; performs quality assurance activities with regard to GIS data. Identifies, creates, and uses GIS applications and data.

Develop, plan, and implements GIS and CAD applications software for the system users and operators; design and develop GIS database models and templates.

Responsible for capacity planning and management, security planning and management, data management, systems maintenance, and performance management of one or more systems.

Develop and present GIS system and cartographic mapping elements. Integrate GIS elements with other technology and coordinates GIS integration with other application software.

Transpose and transform complex data from records maps, CAD drawings, city / county land base maps, water, and sewer modeling, and other source documents into GIS and / or related databases.

Maintain Spatial Data to reflect current assets and infrastructure for water and sewer. Implements and uses geoprocessing tools, geospatial analysis, and map production tools to support planning and management needs and studies.

Maintain reliable backup of GIS systems and data. A valid Michigan Driver’s License and the ability to drive a motor vehicle on all terrain.

Wear personal protective equipment (PPE). Follow security and safety policies and procedures in carrying out work duties.

Provide on-the-job training.RELATED JOB FUNCTIONS : Assist other IT staff and IT management as needed with overflow activities involving the support and maintenance of computers, printers, applications, databases, networks, servers, storage, and data center facilities, and the installation, decommissioning, and relocation of related IT equipment.

Employees within this classification may be exposed to dust and electrical connections, and frequent work with computer equipment.
