Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach in-person and online courses related to public health writing skill development, public health research methods, global health, social & behavioral sciences, health equity, social justice, antiracism, indigenous health, and other public health topics to undergraduate and / or graduate students and public health professionals
- Plan and establish new courses and programs
- Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate public health students
- Participate in student recruitment and retention efforts
- Serve on departmental and university committees
- Provide service to professional and community stakeholders as relevant to the individual's academic specialty
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Master’s degree from a college or university of recognized standing, with the major work in Public Health or related field
- Evidence of ability to teach effectively and to direct group discussions
- Experience mentoring students at the college / university level
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience working in multicultural settings
- Poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others
Desirable Qualifications :
- Established record of effective teaching to undergraduate and / or graduate students through classroom and / or distance education modalities
- Demonstrated ability to develop new courses and / or programs
- Experience applying innovative teaching techniques in courses
- Demonstrated ability to conduct active research through peer-reviewed publications, grant proposals, and / or other scholarly products in public health writing, public health pedagogy, antiracism, and / or health equity
- Familiarity with public health applied learning experiences
- Demonstrated interest or experience working in multicultural settings including Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, Asians, and / or Indigenous individuals
