This is a 28 bed unit with single rooms, but may double up if needed. Caring for all kinds of General Medicine Patients including tracheostemy, wound care, chest tubes, central lines, and more.
There are no telemetry patients on this floor.

Christian was nationally ranked as high performing in the clinical specialty of geriatrics and in the following seven of 21 common procedures and conditions : heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, diabetes, COPD, pneumonia and stroke.
High performing in a specialty means we were in the top 10% nationally of all evaluated hospitals for that specialty or procedure and condition.
Northwest HealthCare, six miles west of Christian, offers 24- hour emergency care, the Sleep Disorders Center and a variety of outpatient diagnostic and imaging services.
The 5th floor is the adult medical unit with a 55 bed capability. Patients admitted to the 5th floor are acutely ill patients with medical problems whose primary reasons for admission include but are not limited to Diabetes Mellitus, Renal Failure, GI Bleed, Sepsis and Pulmonary Disease.
We serve a wide variety of adult and geriatric patients on the medical unit.

Role Purpose
Provides direct patient care activities including IV management, utilizing the nursing process, under the supervision of the RN.
Responsibilities
- Implements treatments and procedures within the scope of practice for the Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, provides patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in professional development and life long learning.
- Performs patient assessment and evaluation with regard to the patient?s age and developmental needs.
- Assists in developing and updating the plan of care with regard to the patient?s age and developmental needs.
- Implements plan of care with regard to the patient?s age and developmental needs.
