Group Sales Manager
Riggs Washington DC sits on the iconic downtown corner of Penn Quarter’s 9th and F Street in a historic building once home to Riggs National Bank.
Each of the Hotel’s 181 guest rooms offers a playful nod to the building’s legacy. Riggs is home to the all-occasion European brasserie-inspired restaurant Café Riggs, as well as Silver Lyan a subterranean bar from the internationally acclaimed Ryan Chetiyawardana, also known as Mr Lyan.

We are searching for a Group Sales Manager to support both Riggs DC and Lyle DC. The primary job function is to drive revenues and profits by increasing and generating local sales and business (both group and corporate) through aggressive proactive sales efforts against local markets and / or clientele.
Essential Duties
- The successful candidate will proactively pursue leads and existing accounts through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections, entertaining, and written communication.
- Attend trade shows, community events, and industry meetings in market(s). Utilize your sales savvy and hospitality expertise to develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers.
- Ensure all sales agreements and function contracts entered into with the clients are communicated to other departments to assure client and guest satisfaction.
- Conduct tours of the hotel and event spaces; entertain qualified potential clients in accordance with company and property policies and procedures.
- Possess outstanding leadership; organizational skills; strong yield and revenue management skills; excellent written and verbal communications;
a guest service focus; a team orientation; and a passion for sales. In addition to your selling skills, we need creativity, motivation and dedication for this position.
- Maintain a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
- Respond quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner, and follow up to ensure client / guest satisfaction.
- Communicate regularly with other industry support, like-minded positions in other Hotel(s) in the city, and key gatekeepers in the industry.
- Establish new account information. Call on major contacts (personally or phone) and continually promote the property.
- Actively pursue new business both locally and nationally, including visiting new offices and businesses, attending market area functions and continually seeking leads that will provide additional business.
- Maximize use of all available hotel space to generate room, food, and beverage revenues.
- Provide accurate and concise information to all departments with individual and group needs, including Resumes and Internal Communications.
- Manage reservation details to ensure complete satisfaction and repeat business.
- Exceed client satisfaction by anticipating problems and needs and delivering high levels of service.
- Conduct post-event evaluations in order to determine how future events could be improved.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of hotel sales experience.
- Minimum of 1 year in a leadership role.
- Driven and highly motivated.
- Highly personable and able to relate to clients and guests on a personal level.
- Exceptional communication skills; speaking, writing and listening.
- Experience with Salesforce, Delphi, Amadeus and / or another similar sales platform.
- Polished personal presentation with warm, confident and hospitable personality.
