Overview :
We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic, and experienced Youth Staff to join our team onboard. As a member of the Youth Staff, you will be responsible for providing a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children and teenagers.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, a passion for creating memorable experiences, and the ability to work in a dynamic, multicultural setting.
Responsibilities :
- Supervise Children and Teenagers : Oversee and engage with children and teens in various age-appropriate activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Activity Planning : Develop, plan, and execute a wide range of activities including arts and crafts, sports, games, themed parties, educational programs, and special events.
- Safety and Security : Monitor all activities to ensure they are conducted in a safe and secure manner, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
- Customer Interaction : Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on their children's activities and addressing any concerns they may have.
- Cultural Awareness : Create an inclusive environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and cultures of all children and their families.
- Behavior Management : Implement and enforce behavior management strategies to ensure a positive and enjoyable experience for all participants.
- Team Collaboration : Work closely with other Youth Staff and cruise ship personnel to ensure a coordinated and seamless delivery of services.
- Reporting : Maintain accurate records of activities, incidents, and attendance, and report any concerns to the Youth Program Manager.
Education and Experience :
Minimum Experience : At least 2 years of experience working with children in a professional setting such as schools, camps, or youth organizations;
experience on a cruise ship or in a hospitality environment is preferred.
- Childcare Qualifications : A degree or certification in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or a related field is preferred.
- Language Skills : Fluency in English is required; additional languages are an asset.
- First Aid and CPR : Must hold current First Aid and CPR certifications (pediatric first-aid preferred).
- Customer Service : Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and interact with children, teenagers, and parents in a friendly and professional manner.
Additional Requirements :
- Physical Fitness : Ability to participate in physical activities and work in a demanding environment that includes standing, bending, and lifting.
- Adaptability : Willingness to work a flexible schedule (7 days a week) in accordance with the cruise ship's itinerary.
- Creativity : Ability to think creatively and develop innovative activities that cater to the interests and needs of children and teenagers.
- Team Player : Ability to collaborate effectively with other Youth Staff and cruise ship personnel to ensure a positive experience for all guests.
Contract :
- Averaging 6 months onboard followed by 2 months' vacation.
- Shared cabin with one other person and en-suite bathroom facilities.
