Salary :
Starting at $50,336.00 (Non-exempt)
About the Position :
Actively assist the child welfare team with facilitating the expansion of resources needed to better serve children and their families involved in foster care.
This includes identifying familial support and connections for the youth including relatives and fictive kin.
A Typical Day as a Family Finding and Resource Specialist :
- Serve as a non-case carrying member of a multidisciplinary team to find and facilitate connections with new relatives and fictive kin
- Possess the ability to identify and engage familial supports and connections including relatives and fictive kin for the purpose of life-long connections and permanency achievement
- Possess strong, creative problem-solving skills and use both traditional and nontraditional search methods to identify and locate family members and supportive connections for youth in care
- Advocate for the youth and support the identified relatives and fictive kin as they develop their role in the life of the youth
- Has strong data analysis skills needed to conduct diligent search activities across multiple databases, systems, social media, and other websites.
Will complete required forms and SACWIS documentation, genogram creation, send written correspondence, and log / track data for use by the foster care team
Strong communication skills, research skills and experience working with children and youth
Does the Following Apply to You?
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Service, or related field
- Child Welfare Experience (preferred)
Additional Qualifications :
- Completion of DCFS criminal background check and fingerprinting
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Obtain an insured vehicle
- At least three years of driving experience with a valid driver's license
