Gas Engineering aids in the operations, maintenance, construction, and planning for $21 billion in gas assets that transport, store, compress, regulate, measure, and deliver gas to 4.6 million customers.
Position Summary
Responsible for providing engineering and technical support for the design of gas transmission assets across the PG&E system.
Reviews and approves pipeline project designs for compliance with applicable codes and standards, as well as ensues a constructible project.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. Mandatory in-person office work will likely be required 1-3 days a week.
Field visits may also be required depending on project needs.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting.
This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is :
Bay Area Minimum : $102,000
Bay Area Maximum : $152,000
Job Responsibilities
- Prepares the design, illustration, revision, and presentation of technical drawings, reports, layouts, schematics, and specifications.
- Oversees the engineering designs and retrofits to existing gas transmission pipelines and facilities to enable the pipelines to be inspected using ILI tools which will verify pipeline integrity.
- Provides technical support for various PG&E departments, including Engineering, Planning, M&C, Electric Operations, Power Generation, Asset Strategy, System Protection, Law, Standards and ATS.
- Performs routine engineering analysis and performs lead role in determining scope, schedule, budget and resources needed.
- Collaborates with team or peers to work on issues, projects or activities.
- Provides code interpretations and design guidance consistent with nationally recognized codes and standards.
- Prepare Civil / Structural Analysis and Design calculation reports for Pipe Support, Foundations, Pipe-Stress Analyses, etc.
using applicable design codes and standards.
Qualifications
Minimum :
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - Civil or job-related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Experience in engineering, job-related, 3 years
- Experience in engineering, Civil and Structural, design emphasis
- Experience with analysis and design of l steel and concrete structures per ACI, AISC and CBC Standards
- Experience with numerical modeling of pipe stress analyses models and structural analysis models
- EIT-Engineer-In-Training Certificate, California
Desired :
- Civil or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- PE-Professional Engineer Civil license
- Ability to obtain California Professional Engineer License (Civil) with a year
- Familiarity with PHMSA CFR 49 subpart 192
