Pay Rate : Negotiable, based on experience

Position Status : Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Schedule : Monday Friday, core hours 9 : 00 am - 3 : 00 pm

Responsibilities :

Here’s what to expect as a Assistant Controller :

Prepare and analyze monthly income statement comparative reports.

Analyze monthly financial activity, comparable revenue and expense, and budget to actual.

Review and post transactional journal entries.

Ensure the proper maintenance of accounting for capital assets, recording of new assets in the asset module, review monthly depreciation expense, and ensure fixed asset reports are reconciled with the general ledger.

Reconcile general ledger asset and liability accounts.

Review and journalize the intercompany transactions.

Balance the transfer accounts monthly.

Assist the Chief Financial Officer in the preparation of the operating budget, county budgets, grant budgets and other reports as requested.

Develop and enhance partnerships with staff members, and / or participants for the completion of all duties and responsibilities of the position.

As conflicts and / or complaints arise, evaluate various courses of action; ensuring the selection of resolutions that support both Agency operating standards and maintain the partnership with individuals.

Develop and implement new policies and / or procedures within the functional area to support the continuous improvement of operational effectiveness and efficiency.

Provide input to short-term objectives of the functional area.

Compose correspondences and responses to correspondences on behalf of the immediate supervisor; with little or no oversight;

often of a complex nature. May act in the absence of the direct supervisor.

Assist the Controller in the preparation or supervision of the production of all financial statements including the Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities, and departmental revenue and expense reports on a monthly basis.

Assist the Controller in the preparation of Board Reports, budget variance reports and funding reports as required.

Design and implement systems for follow-up and collection of aged receivables and coordinate the collection process in collaboration with the Controller and Revenue Cycle Division.

Perform complex programmatic analysis and evaluation of financial data and reports, and prepare correcting adjustments and entries as needed.

Qualifications :

Minimum requirement as a Assistant Controller :

Bachelor’s degree within a related discipline expected and 5 to 7 years of learning experience within a related professional discipline

Or Master’s degree within a related discipline and 2 to 5 years of learning experience within a related professional discipline

Previous experience with accounting in the non-profit sector

Experience with Financial Statement preparation analysis and reporting

A valid driver’s license and 6 months driving experience

Access to a vehicle with valid insurance, registration, and inspection

Ability to communicate, read, write, and understand the English language

Preferred, but not required :

Knowledge of Pennsylvania funding waivers

Experience with MIP accounting software

Experience with Pennsylvania Medicaid Billing Systems (ie. Promise, HCSIS)
