Key Responsibilities as a Boiler Operator :
- Emergency Response : Serve on the Emergency Response Team, managing chemical leaks and spills, including ammonia.
- Equipment Troubleshooting : Communicate with equipment manufacturers and vendors for part sourcing and troubleshooting.
- System Operations : Operate and maintain boilers, refrigeration systems, pumps, compressors, and condensers to ensure optimal functionality.
- Regulatory Compliance : Ensure all utility systems adhere to OSHA and safety standards.
- Preventive Maintenance : Execute preventive maintenance in SAP, following approved plans and work orders.
- Boiler & Water Analysis : Perform routine water analysis and maintenance to maintain system efficiency.
- System Optimization : Manipulate valves, pumps, and auxiliary equipment to achieve optimal performance.
- System Monitoring : Oversee steam production, ammonia refrigeration, and compressed air systems.
- Maintenance Documentation : Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities in alignment with the Mechanical Integrity Program.
- Continuous Improvement : Lead and participate in Lean Manufacturing and cost-saving initiatives.
- Training : Train new and current team members on boiler and refrigeration operations.
Qualifications for the Boiler Operator Role :
- Experience : Minimum of 3 years in industrial utility systems maintenance, preferably within food processing.
- Licensure : Minnesota Boiler License Class 1B or higher preferred.
- Skills & Training : Boiler, HVAC, and HAZMAT training required.
- Communication : Proficient in English (verbal and written) to follow safety instructions and emergency procedures.
- Technical Proficiency : Able to read and interpret safety documents, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Basic Math Skills : Competent in basic arithmetic, including calculating rates, ratios, and percentages.
