The Intern, QTS Summer Internship Program role will vary depending upon the core area of the business that the intern will support.
Those responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following :
Development Project Intern :
Assist the Development team with core projects and construction process oversite.
Aid in budget management, scheduling, and status reports for projects.
Update development program and project status for director-level reviews.
Support entitlement and permitting needs for assigned site projects.
Develop scopes of work for design, construction, and commissioning services.
Monitor project budgets and review schedules, change orders, submittals, and pricing proposals.
May aid in due diligence efforts for new land banks and properties.
Enhance project management processes and protocols.
Capital Strategy Intern :
Collaborate with Development, Finance, Accounting, and Procurement teams on strategic capital initiatives.
Support new development capital project requests and approvals in monthly senior executive committee meetings.
Maintain and create cost projections for greenfield construction and incremental site builds.
Work on equipment procurement and delivery processes.
Develop new processes and documentation to improve capital project management.
Apply industry-leading practices to improve overall business performance.
Strategic Finance & Capital Markets Intern :
Prepare monthly reporting dashboards for senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
Develop strategic presentation materials for senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
Assist in maintaining QTS’s long-term financial model with inputs from various departments.
Support capital markets initiatives, including marketing materials and due diligence for new financing opportunities.
Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and industry research.
Regularly interact with executive leadership and members of Blackstone.
Technology Intern :
Assist the Technology team with day-to-day activities and responsibilities.
Maintain updated budgets, schedules, and status reports for assigned projects.
Develop scopes of work for design, configuration, and commissioning services.
Participate in procurement and project cost estimates.
Develop value statements for potential innovation initiatives (AI / ML / Automation).
Assist with data interpretation, correlation, visualizations, and reporting.
Work on technology procurement and delivery processes with the strategic procurement team.
Monitor the status and availability of in-production technologies.
Respond to break-fix issues and coordinate long-term corrective actions.
Develop and populate new database structures.
Track and resolve security vulnerabilities and associated risks.
Define and track agile development of software features requested by the business.
Further education by observing all aspects of technology and control system deployments within a critical infrastructure environment.
People Services Intern :
Assist the HR team with day-to-day activities and responsibilities.
Help with onboarding new employees, including preparing orientation materials and conducting orientation sessions.
Assist in maintaining employee records and updating HR databases.
Participate in employee engagement activities and events.
Support HR projects and initiatives, such as performance management, training and development, and employee relations.
Conduct research on HR best practices and contribute to the development of HR policies and procedures.
Facilities Engineering Intern :
Assist with engineering aspects of data center site startup or commissioning projects.
Participate in the design, configuration, and commissioning of data center facilities.
Support engineering improvements and automation projects using tools like Revit, CAD, and DCIM software.
Assist in the development of project plans and timelines for site startup and commissioning activities.
Monitor and report on project progress, identifying any issues or delays.
Help develop and implement automation solutions to enhance data center operations.
Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulations.
Assist in the preparation of technical documentation and reports for engineering projects.
Procurement Intern :
Assist in the preparation and processing of purchase orders and requisitions.
Support the evaluation of supplier quotes and proposals.
Maintain and update supplier information and procurement records.
Help track inventory levels and monitor stock requirements.
Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and cost-saving opportunities.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, STEM, Data Science, Human Resources, Supply Chain, or a related field.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint for presentations and Excel for data analysis and budgeting.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Current full-time enrollment in one of QTS’s partner institutions (listed below), LaunchPad partner schools, or schools served by Blackstone LaunchPad’s strategic channel partners (e.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Previous internship or co-op experience in construction, finance, technology, HR, facilities engineering, or related industries.
Experience with data analysis tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
Experience with programming languages like Python, Java, etc.
Involvement in community activities outside of schoolwork (athletics, clubs, volunteering, part-time employment).
