Position Summary
The YDS develops effective relationships with justice-involved youth and their caregivers to help address challenges and provide positive guidance toward behavior changes.
This position involves a willingness to work with a diverse population, along with a driving desire to make a difference in the lives of youth and families by providing direct services that emphasize active leadership, coaching, crisis intervention, and positive role-modeling.
Pay Grade : 48
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
100% -
1.Two (2) years of experience in the care, development, or personal guidance of adolescents or adults in a human services or social services program, law enforcement or correctional program, or an educational, community, or military organization; AND
2.Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social sciences, counseling, restorative or juvenile justice, behavioral sciences, criminal justice, or a closely related field; OR
3.An equivalent combination of related education and / or experience.
4.PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND / OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
1.Assesses youth using the designated risk / needs / strength assessment tools.
2.Develops, tracks, and revises customized care plans for youth.
3.Communicates with justice-involved youth about their thought processes, actions, and challenges to provide insight into responsible behaviors and attitudes and provides guidance in social and emotional growth that elicit a genuine desire to change behaviors.
4.Collaborates with a youth’s caregivers (including extended family, teachers, coaches etc.) to successfully create and implement customized care plans.
5.Ensures the effective implementation of the customized plan.
6.Coordinates regular check-in meetings to monitor progress.
7.Becomes an expert in local Youth Development landscape.
8.Reviews relevant reports, notes, and data to get ahead of looming pitfalls.
9.Empowers the youth and caregivers as advocates during the process.
10.Provides excellent support to youth and caregivers while on your caseload.
11.Performs other related duties as required and directed.
