The Energetics and Propulsion Department, which is part of the Mechanical Engineering Directorate, is looking for a Senior Flight Safety System Engineer.

This organization is responsible for the design and development of propulsion technology to support the Land Warfare and Air Defense mission area.

Job Summary :

The Senior Flight Safety System Engineer position is to join our Corporate or Research Center Team : Requires knowledge of work area, typically obtained through education combined with experience.

May have knowledge of project management.

This position is located in Tucson, Arizona.

Responsibilities to Anticipate :

• Familiar with developing, reviewing, updating, and approving system verification artifacts and system requirements
• Familiar with electrical circuit design
• Ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and ensure appropriate action is taken to mitigate issues
• Self-starter and ability to work independently
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• This position is a hybrid role, and the selected applicant will work with the hiring manager to set schedule.

Qualifications You Must Have :

• Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
• 5 years’ experience with technical engineering background, in the aerospace or government sector or Advanced degree and 3 years of relevant experience.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.

S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Value :

• Advanced degree
• 5 years of directly related experience in battery subsystems design, development, and test
• Specific experience in the thermal and Li-Ion battery manufacturing, design characteristics, safety testing, and managing development and qualification activities

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
