Education experience in adult critical care, progressive care or medical / surgical in an acute care / hospital setting is preferred.

Job Summary : Utilizes adult learning principles to ensure competency and assists staff to respond effectively in a complex healthcare market.
Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates accurate, educationally sound, evidence-based educational programs for Saint Francis Health System employees.
Minimum Education : Has completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom.
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing or healthcare related field strongly preferred.
Licensure, Registration and / or Certification : Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
Work Experience : 3 - 4 years related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Previous teaching experience with adult populations. Working knowledge of MS Office applications.
Strongly self-directed, with demonstrated communication and teaching skills. Experience as a preceptor. Acts as a positive leader and innovator.
Demonstrates proficiency in use of technology.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities : Develops, coordinates, implements, and documents adult learner-focused orientation programs to ensure regulatory compliance and initial competency of newly hired staff.
Maintains educational records, assists with orientation calendars and competency documentation. Mentors new staff. Collaborates with managers and staff to identify and meet educational and skill needs of personnel.
Develops, coordinates, implements and documents ongoing in-service programs based on identified educational needs, including correction of identified problems.
Monitors and assists with annual recertification and ongoing competencies. Functions as a clinical and educational resource.
Integrates information from internal and external sources in order to assist staff with development and implementation of evidence-based practice.
Provides individual consultations and instruction. Maintains personal skill set, as appropriate, to establish and maintain credibility with staff.
Accepts personal responsibility for own professional development. Supports lifelong learning of healthcare personnel in an environment that facilitates continuous learning.
Serves on house wide committees and CQI teams. Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration by coordinating educational endeavors with other departments.
Assists with development and revisions of patient-care policies, procedures, and protocols. Coordinates the education for implementation of new equipment, devices, and medical supplies.
Participates in the evaluation process. Provides annual assessment of staff educational needs and implements plan of action based on assessment.
Performs related management activities including reports and presentations and coordinates nursing protocols.
Decision Making : Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.
Working Relationship : Works directly with patients and / or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction.
Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
