Anatomic Pathology Manager

Position Summary :
The Anatomic Pathology Manager is responsible for the operational management of all of their respective assigned areas within the laboratory.
The manager ensures that services are the highest quality, are cost effective, and are performed in an expeditious and efficient manner.
The manager has regulatory responsibilities of CLIA 493.1463.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Effectively interview,hire, discipline, terminate, and evaluate employees using Hospital and Laboratory guidelines with the assistance and involvement of the Laboratory Administrator.
- Accurately prepares and monitors section budget performance. Ensures that all section activities are carried out in the most cost-effective manner as measured by financial indicators
- Reviews and revises all section policies and procedures and ensures such procedures meet all accreditation guidelines as measured by inspection results
- Submits all requested management reports, performance evaluations and budget analysis in a timely manner as per Manager guidelines.
- Evaluates section operations. Develops and implements changes to the operation as necessary with the goal of meeting the needs of the laboratory customers.
Ensures the section is using the latest and most advanced technologies, protocols, and products as appropriate for the operation.
- Advises Director on problems and issues and recommends any needed changes to Laboratory policies or procedures. Consistently demonstrates good judgment in resolving interpersonal conflict and related employee problems within the section.
- Demonstrates the ability to prioritize multiple demands, delegate activities to section employees as appropriate and effectively complete required assignments
- Participates in the formulation, development, and implementation of short and long-range plans and objectives for areas of the department as assigned.
- Works cooperatively with other lab section managers and the Laboratory Administrator in managing the laboratory to best meet the needs of the hospital and our customers.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Science Degree w / Certification based on AP Specialty, or equivalent certification with 4 years of demonstrated ability to supervise and or perform administrative / management functions
- Must hold an active CT (ASCP) certification
- Minimum of 3 years’ demonstrated ability to supervise and or perform administrative / management functions
Preferred Qualifications :
- Master’s Degree, or equivalent certification
- Effective communication skills
- Computer skills to include relevant systems used in the lab and the hospital
- Understanding of Lab and Hospital budgeting systems
- Understanding of the Lean Process and Principles
