The Director of Law Enforcement Services is an experienced leader dedicated to improving victim safety and criminal justice practices to strengthen the systems that respond to sexual assault crimes.

This role involves providing training and technical assistance to support Connecticut’s Sexual Assault Criminal Justice Response, Enhancement and Model Policy Advisory Committee, complementing the efforts of the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council and the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection.

This position requires collaboration with both law enforcement and advocates to enhance cooperation and ensure a seamless response to the needs of victims and survivors of sexual violence.

The Law Enforcement Services Manager is a full-time position with benefits. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Essential Functions :

  • Serve as the lead and the primary contact between the Police Officers Standards and Training Council, the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, law enforcement, and sexual assault advocates
  • Provide leadership and support to the Sexual Assault Criminal Justice Response, Enhancement and Model Policy Advisory Committee established by PA 24-127
  • Work with stakeholders to develop and distribute information about services available to victims of sexual violence as established by PA-127
  • Work with both law enforcement and advocates to strengthen collaborations between the criminal justice system and community-based services to provide support to victims of sexual violence via training, technical assistance and resource development
  • Develop semi-annual reports detailing the criminal justice response to sexual assault crimes and recommendations for systems improvements
  • Convene regional meetings of sexual assault advocates and law enforcement officers investigating sexual assault crimes to foster collaboration and increase victim support
  • Support the development and implementation of curricula for training law enforcement officers and sexual assault advocates
  • Build support for Alliance initiatives among community stakeholders, state lawmakers and state officials
  • Represent The Alliance on state committees, task forces and coalitions, and provide training and presentations about Alliance initiatives as needed
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Education and Years of Experience :

Bachelors Degree in related field and 5+ years of related law enforcement experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Qualifications :

  • Successful experience in public speaking and media relations
  • Demonstrated experience in issue-based campaigns, public policy advocacy or lobbying
  • Demonstrated experience working with victims of crime, trauma survivors or other communities impacted by violence
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with diverse and active groups
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to accurately update and maintain records
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle required

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Travel :

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Additional Information :

The successful candidate must acquire and maintain Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor / Advocate Certification within the first six months of employment.
