Production Maintenance Technician
Location : West Palm Beach
Type : On-Site
Schedule : All shifts 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Type of Contract : Temp-to-Perm
Pay Rate : $21 - $23 Depending on the experience
Description :
The Mechanic is responsible for improving the company’s efficiency ratio and capacity utilization by limiting machine downtime, reducing changeover time, and enhancing the production process.
This role requires executing scheduled preventive maintenance and ensuring the highest level of safety for machine operations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Preventive Maintenance :
- Maintain a preventive maintenance program to ensure the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment.
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize machine downtime.
- Repairs and Diagnostics :
- Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment.
- Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
- Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using appropriate testing devices.
- Component Maintenance :
- Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
- Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear as part of a preventive maintenance program.
- Operational Verification :
- Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
- Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems.
- Documentation and Training :
- Record parts or materials used and notify supervisors to requisition new parts or materials as necessary.
- Record repairs and maintenance performed.
- Study blueprints or manufacturers' manuals to determine the correct installation or operation of machinery.
- Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators via a structured training program.
- Additional Responsibilities :
- Implement projects developed in conjunction with the Process Engineer to improve efficiency.
- Implement safety-related projects in conjunction with the HSE team to avoid accident incidents during machine operation.
- Cut and weld metal or other appropriate material to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, or assemble new equipment.
Education and Qualifications :
- Associate of Arts or Vocational Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Automation, or Hydraulics Engineering.
- Certification in PLC Programming, Forklift Maintenance (operation a plus), Electrical, Mechanical, Maintenance (TPM), and Machining.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- OSHA Lockout Tagout Training.
- Hot Work Permit Training.
Work Experience :
Minimum of 2 years in the manufacturing industry (Pharmaceuticals, Cosmetics, Food & Beverage, Distribution, Electronics).

- Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
- Repairing machines or systems using the necessary tools.
- Monitoring gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure a machine is working properly.
- Determining causes of operating errors and deciding the necessary actions.
- Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
- Communicating effectively with others.
Abilities :
- Hand and arm steadiness while moving or holding in one position.
- Quick hand movement or coordination.
- Adjusting machine controls quickly and repeatedly to exact positions.
- Quick response to signals (sound, light, picture).

- Imagining the end look of moved or rearranged parts.

Working Conditions :
- Perform repetitive tasks.
- Regularly working in a noisy environment.
- Sitting or standing for long periods.
- Occasionally working in an office environment.
- Working overtime hours if required by business volume.
- Lifting 50 pounds.
- Using Personal Protective Equipment, e.g., safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hairnet, safety belt, shoe cover, and gloves.
Physical Demands :
- Light physical activity as necessary.
- Climbing stairs.
- Prolonged sitting at a desk may be required.
