Essential Functions :
- Enter all charges for third party monthly billing and post all payments.
- Bill insurance companies, government programs, (and other external entities) monthly.
- Active participation in Triple Check process with interdisciplinary team attending.
- In collaboration with Billing Manager, maintain billing systems managing updates for rates, contracts, revenue codes, collections, etc.
- Manage and follow-up on any denials or issues from billing.
- Maintain electronic insurance files for residents including doctor bills, insurance cards, explanations of benefits, etc.
- Review insurance coverage on all perspective residents through insurance eligibility verification using Inovalon software.
- Meet with residents to discuss any problems and concerns regarding health insurance coverage and explanations of benefits.
- Inform residents of the appropriate time to pay outstanding balances after all insurance payments have been made.
- Review ancillary bills to determine that residents / insurance carriers are being billed properly.
- Gather room and board charges, pharmacy and medical supply, therapy, and other ancillary charges for each Medicare patient.
- Produce UB-04 for third party billing.
- Check status of claims and make all adjustments and corrections as needed.
- Maintain electronic file on all billing remittances on a yearly basis.
Requirements :
- Minimum of four (4) years healthcare billing and collections experience required.
- Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Commercial and other Third-Party Billing experience required.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, including the ability to operate computerized accounting and spreadsheet programs.
- Knowledge of billing best practices and regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
- Highly organized and detailed, with ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with and respond effectively to the instructions and requests from a diverse group of clients / residents, visitors, and team members and to provide information with courtesy and tact.
- Integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting.
