Abt Electronics has an immediate opening for the position of a Payroll Specialist. We are a family-owned company that has been in business since 1936 and continues to experience strong growth year after year.

We are a perennial winner of the Chicago Tribune’s Top Workplace Award. We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible & friendly Payroll Specialist to join our team.

- Process bi-weekly payroll for 1,700+ employees that fall under two company codes
- Maintain personnel database regarding salaries
- Knowledge of handling employee wage garnishments within ADP and maintaining compliance
- Create and pay out off-cycle payrolls every year
- Address and resolve employee complaints relating to the payroll system, paychecks, etc.
- Prepare reports to relevant departments
- Make adjustments in pay for raises, bonuses, and commission
- Process wage garnishments
- Ensure employees receive the correct compensation in a timely manner
- Train & support another HR team member to be a backup for payroll processing
- Assist with various projects including data analytics and other aspects of the ADP software tools.
Job Requirements :
- High school diploma or equivalent; BS / BA in business, accounting or relevant field is a plus
- Proven experience as a payroll specialist in a fast-paced environment required
- Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws
- Must possess a very strong attention to detail
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
- Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
- Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Basic HR knowledge is required
- At least 3 years of experience with ADP Workforce Now required
- This is not a remote job; we are located in Glenview, IL
