Job Description :
The Director of Nursing-Alliance, Ohio shall plan, direct, coordinate, and evaluate the daily nursing functions of the facility to ensure that resident needs are met through accepted standards of nursing practice and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding the operation of Skilled Nursing Facilities and Assisted Living Nursing Facilities.
The Director of Nursing will advise the Administrator and CEO in matters related to nursing services by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Job Requirements :
1. Effective leadership that includes supporting core values, addressing zero tolerance behaviors and maintaining active communication with employees supervised as well as unit direction in the absence of the Director of Clinical Operations or Administrator.
2. Complete assessments as required as well as evaluate reports and maintain accurate documentation regarding resident conditions.
Must be able to recognize significant changes in the conditions of residents. Completes assessments as required based on level of care - SNF, NF, ALF.
Responsible for oversight of notification to physician and families / responsible party regarding changes.
3. Accurately completes admission process in a timely manner to include assessments, interim care plans, service plans, and verifying and implementing physician orders.
4. Responsible for implementation and oversight / evaluation of nursing and personal care provided on the SNF / NF and AL units by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and restorative aides.
Immediately reports substandard care to the Director of Clinical Operations.
5. Daily rounds on unit with nurses, aides, and with physicians as needed to ensure coordination of resident care and timely completion of documentation.
6. Responsible for the reception, provision, and process of an acceptable nurse report / shift change program.
7. Evaluates functions of unit to ensure resident care, staff relations and efficiency of service. Reports all concerns to Director of Clinical Operations.
Assures nursing practice in compliance with Nurse Practice Act, state and federal regulations and facilities policies and procedures.
8. Communicates with staff, ancillary departments, and family members to discuss issues related to the resident's condition of care.
9. Maintains facility documents such as incidents and accidents, pharmacist recommendations, etc., in a systematic and orderly fashion.
10. Assist in the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, coaching, and disciplinary process of unit employees.

Qualifications

Education and / or Experience
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and successfully passing registered nursing exam. Requires at least twelve months of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Complete annual state mandated training requirements (Regular In-services as well as any external training).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Current Registered Nurse in West Virginia and Ohio required. Requires periodic renewal through re-certification or continuing education.
Other Skills and Abilities
Nursing skills specific to geriatric residents are needed. May need additional skills with special-need geriatric residents, such as those with dementia, Alzheimer's, or those requiring advanced health care.

Medical Screenings
A Physical and Tuberculosis testing are required annually.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include : close vision for computer and paper detail work; color vision to assess changes in coloring of residents' skin or wounds and to review color-coded spreadsheets or documents;
and ability to adjust focus from far to near and from computer to desk or unit hallways.
