Cathcart Rail, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, is a leading freight rail services and transportation company. We employ nearly 1,000 employees in more than 100 locations in 33 states and operate the largest railcar services network in the industry, encompassing 18 large railcar repair facilities and more than 75 field services locations in addition to a rail services division that operates three short line railroads and a dozen contract switching and transloading sites.
The Inventory Specialist is a member of the corporate supply chain team responsible for the material transfer process for materials needed to support production as well as for maintaining material master and vendor data.
Duties include supporting inventory managers and purchasing managers to assist in meeting material requirements. Incumbent will maintain standard pricing and will engage with location managers and logistics providers to move materials between sites.
- Act as central point of contact for all intercompany shipments
- Confer with shipping and receiving location to resolve all shipping discrepancies
- Assist in implementation and maintenance of programs related to inventory control, procurement, data management and reporting
- Understand and monitor inventory accuracy measurements and take corrective action as issues are identified
- Coordinate inbound and outbound freight for all intercompany transfers
- Create and maintain part numbers
- Maintain vendor pricing records
- Participate in physical inventory and cycle counts
- Less than 10% travel required

Qualifications
- High school diploma required; bachelors degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial inventory or similar experience
- Familiarity with AAR and company pricing standards and repair descriptions
- Demonstrated working knowledge of purchasing and inventory controls
- Proficient in computer software applications
- NetSuite experience preferred
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
- Ability to make independent judgments within scope of responsibility
