Engineering Team Manager, Website Foundations.

Squarespace is looking for an Engineering Team Manager to lead a team as part of the Website Platform group. The mission of Website Foundations is to modernize & evolve Squarespace's primary product offering, our Website builder & CMS.

This includes developing systems & platforms for both our internal & external customers to build features on top of the Website builder in a safe & self service way.

This role calls for a technical manager with backend experience that can lead by example to create engineering solutions for maintenance & technical debt, system design & architecture.

This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week. You will report to the Engineering Team Manager.

You'll Get To

• Manage & mentor a diverse team of experienced Software Engineers ICs across a spectrum of seniority.
• Assume an active role in the career development of direct reports with regular 1 : 1s, direct feedback, coaching.
• Exercise technical expertise in developing project initiatives & selecting new projects to pursue based on technical needs.
• Participate in system design, best practices & architecture discussions to inform our future roadmap.
• Lead large-scale initiatives that impact millions of customers.

Who We're Looking For

• 5+ years of industry experience shipping web applications across large codebases with many contributors.
• 2+ years of experience managing a Product engineering team of four or more engineers.
• Ability to break down technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders through documents & presentations.
• Strong technical foundations to navigate the inherent tradeoffs in product engineering decisions
• A manager who prioritizes an inclusive culture of psychological safety & technical rigor.
• A technical manager who can lead by example, including writing & reviewing code.

Cash Compensation Range : $153,500 - $247,250 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, & location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), all Squarespace employees are eligible to receive equity in the company as part of their total compensation.
