This position is within the Care Solutions business segment and has responsibility at the Mapleton Plant; which is a multi-user site producing amine based compounds.
This position will support primarily the Mapleton site, and occasional regional support within Care Solutions. This position is full time on site.
The Plant Engineer is to ensure safe, compliant and economical production, operation, control, and monitoring by automation technology.
The main focal areas of a plant engineering are maintenance, guarantee plant safety, occupational safety, and environmental protection.
The Plant Engineer is responsible to ensure from a technical viewpoint that the operation of the units is in compliance with permits and implement other legal requirements and internal technical safety stipulations.
Through the use of predictive and preventative maintenance along with repair the Plant Engineer ensure on-line equipment availability of the unit assigned.
Other job requirements include continuously optimize the maintenance process, technical changes, optimize production units by assisting / cooperating in process developments and plan and process capital investment measures.
The working knowledge of a Plant Engineer requires competencies mechanical integrity, assets lifecycle management and OEE;
the Plant Engineer will advance his / her unit in these areas. This position will provide support of the elements of OSHA PSM (MOC, PHA, PSSR, PSI, Mechanical Integrity, etc.
and is a key member of incident investigations. This position will support procedure development, commissioning, and startup new equipment.
The position is also responsible for job related KPI’s. The position will utilize technical skills in troubleshooting, specifying replacement equipment, strategic planning, and supporting the overall mechanical integrity process.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Plant Maintenance / Improvements · Maintenance Gatekeeper · Management of maintenance costs
Inspection, monitoring, maintenance, and repair according to the latest safety standards
Plant maintenance and asset preservation · Shutdowns and Turn-Around Maintenance Plant Equipment Compliance, Asset Strategy and Technical Support
Ensure plant equipment is test and inspection compliant with all applicable codes and standards; such as, mechanical integrity RAGAGEP and OEM.
Maintain, build and improve test / inspection program using the site CMMS.
Prescribe, maintain and improve predictive and preventative maintenance for equipment that maximized the life of the asset.
Apply Risk Based Maintenance to unit assets.
Provide day-to-day process engineering and technical support to plant operations including troubleshooting efforts.
Participate in Process Hazard Analysis, Layer of Protection Analysis and Hazard and Operability Study.
Fulfill engineering action items as assigned. Small Capital Projects
Generate detailed scope of work documents for CAPEX and plant expense-based projects
Ensure projects are implemented safely, commission new equipment and provide startup support.
Provide basic support in projects from conceptual design, through basic engineering and construction phases. Overall Equipment Efficiency
Ensures technical plant availability was determined in Best Practice Guideline .
Optimize plant performance.
Investigate where and why losses arise or can be reduced by identifying weak points and availably killers.
Supports the management of alarm management for the site. · Evaluate maintenance costs as product-specific and consider connection with the technical availability and the level of replacement investments over a longer period of time.
REQUIREMENTS
B.S or M.S. in Mechanical (preferred) or Chemical Engineering. · More than 3 years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
Experience with OSHA CFR 1910.119 PSM and EPA RMP regulations and compliance is a plus.
Chemical equipment design, sizing, and specification experience desired. · Relief system design, sizing and specification experience desired. ·
DCS control system knowledge or experience is a plus. · Continuous Improvement, Lean Six Sigma and Total Plant / Process Management training and experience a plus.
SAP knowledge and understanding is a plus.
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. Comfort working plant environment and on teams comprised of operations, maintenance, engineering, quality and safety
Able to work independently with a high level of initiative and self-starting skills.
Capable of handling a heavy workload, establishing priorities, and adjusting priorities as dictated by site and business needs.
Strong planning and organizational skills; strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office 365.
Experience with Aspen Plus or other simulation software is a plus.
