Power Systems Technician - Journey Level

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Power Systems Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel and gaseous engines, AC / DC systems, transfer switches, switchgear and other power generation equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency maintenance on generators, switchgear, and other power generation equipment
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems in engines and generators
• Conduct load bank testing to ensure generators are functioning properly
• Rebuild engines and replace faulty parts as needed
• Test batteries and replace as needed
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics
• Communicate technical information effectively with customers and team members
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed
• Provide technical training to team members and customers as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a technical training program in power systems or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in power systems maintenance and repair
• Proficiency in generator maintenance, diesel engine repair, and gaseous engine repair
• Experience with AC / DC systems, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical troubleshooting
• Familiarity with load bank testing, engine rebuilds, battery testing, transfer switches, switchgear, and electronic governors
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate technical information effectively
• Strong computer skills and ability to use technical software
• Experience in technical communication, power generation, and power system fundamentals
• Experience with 645, 710, EMD Engines is preferred
