Power Systems Technician - Journey Level
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Power Systems Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel and gaseous engines, AC / DC systems, transfer switches, switchgear and other power generation equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on generators, switchgear, and other power generation equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems in engines and generators
- Conduct load bank testing to ensure generators are functioning properly
- Rebuild engines and replace faulty parts as needed
- Test batteries and replace as needed
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics
- Communicate technical information effectively with customers and team members
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed
- Provide technical training to team members and customers as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a technical training program in power systems or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in power systems maintenance and repair
- Proficiency in generator maintenance, diesel engine repair, and gaseous engine repair
- Experience with AC / DC systems, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical troubleshooting
- Familiarity with load bank testing, engine rebuilds, battery testing, transfer switches, switchgear, and electronic governors
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate technical information effectively
- Strong computer skills and ability to use technical software
- Experience in technical communication, power generation, and power system fundamentals
- Experience with 645, 710, EMD Engines is preferred
