THE POSITION
The firm is currently seeking a civil litigation associate with strong writing skills to join their tight knit team.
Responsibilities include some or all of the following (depending on experience level) :
- Drafting and editing motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, discovery motions, trial and post-trial motions, and appeals.
- Discovery (oral / in-person) : taking and defending depositions; preparing witnesses for deposition; coordinating with outside experts (including scientific, economic, & survey experts);
arguing appeals; arguing discovery and evidentiary motions.
Discovery (evidentiary / project management / writing) : supervising the collection, review, and production of documents at significant scale;
negotiating discovery with adversaries; drafting and responding to written discovery requests and requests for admission.
- Trial : opening / closing arguments; examining witnesses, preparing witnesses, and preparing submissions for trial in federal and state court.
- Settlement : drafting mediation statements; negotiating and drafting settlement agreements.
QUALIFICATIONS :
This candidate should be a strong critical and creative thinker and an even stronger writer. Junior candidates will receive significant training and mentorship on the practice side, but the ability to draft compelling legal documents with little oversight on the technical writing is essential.
Candidates should be licensed to practice law in CO, ideally with 1-2 years of civil litigation experience.
COMPENSATION
This position is open to a wide range of experience levels. Junior level candidates with strong writing skills can expect a base compensation of appx.
$100k-$120k. More experienced candidates can expect $170k -$200k.
- This position has the potential for significant bonuses when cases close.
