Job Description
General Responsibilities :
Develop relationships with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), civil engineering firms performing work for FDOT and other state, county, and local transportation agencies.
Lead transportation-related project pursuits and prepare proposals and cost estimates, track and evaluate project progress and budgets, and recommend changes.
Provide geotechnical engineering and consulting services for regional transportation related projects and clients. This may include performing and / or leading field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations, observation and inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related geotechnical engineering reports for geotechnical transportation services.
Review drawings and construction to assure compliance with plans and specifications. Research and resolve design and construction problems.
Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports. Apply sound engineering principles and be able to communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams.
Services may be provided for existing or proposed projects in the public works and transportation sectors.
Essential Role and Responsibilities :
- Execute the transportation initiatives within local offices in the region.
- Lead marketing, sales and business development for transportation projects.
- Responsible for conceptualizing the initial design and / or investigative approach for a major phase of a large project or have overall responsibility for the engineering work on a project of moderate scope.
- Lead development and focus on consulting for regional, large-scale programs for a division, service line or business sector.
- Direct the efforts of the largest project client pursuits including strategy and facilitation.
- Lead interactions with client, stakeholders and project managers to ensure the projects are being coordinated to meet the needs of the client and stakeholders.
- Serve as a senior project manager for key projects overseeing and coordinating resources from multiple service lines and offices across the company.
- Manage new client development and grow sales for defined group of existing clients including diversification of service provided.
- Provide input into the overall strategy for the service line or business sector and execute the goals.
- Provide technical leadership on key projects; when needed be responsible for the overall project and performance.
- Manage risk related to projects. Ensure contracts are signed and fully executed prior to commencing work. Monitor adherence to corporate risk policies and practices.
Hold managers accountable for mitigating or eliminating risk.
- Strong engineering consulting and client development background.
- Communicate safety initiatives, rules and guidelines for office or region. Hold managers and employees accountable for following safety rules and guidelines.
- Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Ensure best practices are being followed and hold Managers accountable for quality control standards.
- Demonstrated technical expertise and knowledge of Transportation clients and projects.
- Experience in working with State Departments of Transportation is highly desirable.
- Technical expertise with an emphasis in either geotechnical engineering, environmental planning or construction engineering and transportation.
- Experience in client engagement, proposal writing, and commercial agreements.
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline practiced by the Firm including Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology and a minimum of 10 years’ related experience.
Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 14 years’ related experience.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
