We are seeking a highly-motivated Project Environmental Scientist to join our growing team in Virginia.

Responsibilities :

Responsibilities will include leading wetland delineations, conducting threatened and endangered species habitat evaluations and surveys, preparing NEPA documentation, leading Section 404 / 401 permitting, coordinating with regulatory agencies and clients, conducting permit compliance monitoring, conducting bat bridge inspections, preparing planting plans, conducting surveys for invasive species, preparing invasive species management plans, assisting with stream stabilization / restoration projects, mentoring and training junior staff, and any other services as required by specific projects.

Periodic travel (including overnight) will be required to conduct field work and / or attend project meetings, as needed.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Environmental Science or similar field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10-15 years of experience in related field
  • Willingness to conduct field work requiring periodic overnight travel
  • Experience obtaining Section 404 / 401 permits
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines under limited supervision
  • Experience coordinating with federal and state resource agencies
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong plant identification skills
  • Willingness to continue to learn and grow technically and professionally within the company
  • Willingness to mentor and train junior staff
  • Ability to interpret and stay abreast of environmental regulations
  • GIS experience
