Purchasing Intern

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

Our Summer Internship Program is a supervised program designed to enhance professional development by providing the chance to test drive Gentherm and step into our organization to learn about our culture and career possibilities for your future.

Our Summer program formally runs from May 20, 2024 through August 9, 2024.

The interns will follow a cohort-style program with 20 other students, as they navigate learning Gentherm, our Mission, Values, and our Business Goals.

The cohort will have the opportunity to interact and learn from Executive Leaders across the organizations through monthly learning sessions, as well as participate in both community and company events.

Students complete a predetermined project related to department goals and the student’s area of study. The program is designed to be an experiential learning that integrates knowledge learned in the classroom and practical application in a professional setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support purchasing / category buyers on development of a global sub-category database to be used for identifying cost savings opportunities
  • Supplier names, mfg location, pricing, volumes, and key design information : raw material type, weight, dimensions, others
  • Cross-functional engagement with global buyers, engineering, supplier quality, and suppliers
  • Reading and interpreting drawings and technical data sheets
  • Sub-category part segmentation into similar families based on alignment with engineering
  • Support the sourcing decisions as managing the sourcing calendar and update the sourcing database
  • Support the Category Managers on OEM’s supplier resilience
  • Support the category managers on Cost Model input data and Customer Quotations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be currently enrolled in school and have finished their freshman year by the start of the internship program.
  • Familiar with Microsoft products.
  • Able to be on-site minimum of 3 days a week (up to 5) at our facilities in Northville, Michigan
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or similar field
  • Advanced use and knowledge of MS Excel
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
