Job Description
- engineering lifecycle including design implementationperformance tuning and monitoring
- Manage andwork with the firm’s database managed service provider(MSP) to manage and monitor the firm’s evolving databaserequirements
- Design develop and maintainscalable data pipelines and ETL processes critical to supportbusiness operations and analytics. (Python / SQL)
- Optimize and tune data systems for high performance andreliability
- Collaborate with data scientistsanalysts and other stakeholders to understand data requirements anddeliver highquality data solutions
- Implementand manage data storage solutions in cloud environments (AWS AzureGoogle Cloud)
- Ensure data quality andintegrity through rigorous testing and validation
- Continuously evaluate and integrate new technologies andtools to improve data processing capabilities
- Manage distributed scheduled tasks on individual serversto a centralized ruleset
- Work with thedevelopment team and database MSP to modernize the backup andrecovery strategy for 34 SQL servers across different cloudenvironments
- Support the addition of newtenants on the firm’s production data platform
Pluses
- Knowledge of fixedincome or equity data and / orrisk management in a fixedincome environment (security mastertrading position tables) a strong plus
- Experience managing and updating technologies such asJenkins NGINX Celery Octopus TeamCity all strong pluses
- Experience with frontend programming languages / tools suchas JavaScript TypeScript React or AGGrid a plus
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree inComputer Science Engineering Information Technology or a relatedfield from a toptier university.
- 45 years ofrelevant professional experience in data engineering
- Strong programming skills in SQL and Python.
- Proficiency in database administration
- Proven experience migrating onprem data and associatedprocesses to cloud platforms (AWS Azure Google Cloud)
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement efficientand reliable data pipelines and ETL processes
- Strong problemsolving skills and ability to troubleshootcomplex data issues
- Excellent communicationskills and ability to work collaboratively in a teamenvironment
- A proactive mindset with awillingness to take ownership and drive projects to completion.Strong organizational skills along with a desire to continually bechallenged
- Experience with monitoring CI / CDLoad Balancing and Testing tools (e.g. Redgate Datadog)
