STERIS works with healthcare systems nationwide to make sure that their facilities are ready for anything that comes their way.

In these facilities, the Sterile Processing Department is a central part of that mission, and the Sterile Processing Manager is the leader.

This is a multi-faceted leadership role, handling everything from scrubbing in to meeting with senior leaders.

We are looking for smart, effective leaders who are willing to learn. Some of our most successful employees in this role have previous experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, process improvement, or sterile processing.

What You Will Do

Be A Leader

  • Supervise and coordinate the SPD team in day to day operations, lead training efforts, and ensure proper policy implementation
  • Interview and hire new employees, and coach existing employees to meet company objectives and Customer requirements
  • Assist Sterile Processing Technicians with instrument processing as needed

Be A Partner

  • Communicate and foster relationships with all levels of hospital staff and STERIS leadership
  • Deliver Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and review quality metrics with Customers

Be Process Driven

  • Ensure proper processes are followed by all Sterile Processing team members for compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Partner with the Continuous Improvement team to streamline processes and create an effective and efficient work environment

What You Need to Be Successful

Requirements :

  • Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (4+ Years)
  • Must have experience in process management and quality control (1+ Year)
  • Active certification in sterile processing / central sterile via CBSPD or IAHCSMM required. If not certified at point of hire, it must be obtained within 12 months of hire
  • Sterile Processing Department (SPD) management must maintain no less than eighteen (18) hours continuing education (or other equivalent educational activity) annually to include six (6) hours dedicated to leadership and / or management and three (3) hours dedicated to infection prevention and control

Preferences :

  • Instrument tracking software and employee management system experience a plus (1+ Years)
  • Excels at managing small to medium SPDs and hospital settings or shift management within an offsite reprocessing center (1+ Years)
  • Medical instrument knowledge a plus (1+ Years)
  • Knowledge of Sterile Processing, Operating Room and Material Management functions a plus (1+ Years)

Skills and / or Competencies :

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Ability to apply critical thinking during times of need
  • Possess an understanding of accountability tools - Coaching documents, MBOs, Performance Reviews
  • Ability to stay calm and maintain a high level of professionalism under high pressure situations
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis
  • Ability to build project plans
