Summary
Accountant performs accounting functions of variable complexity to ensure an accurate accumulation and reporting of financial data.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of Project Cost accounting functions.
- Reviewand analyzeaccounting data for compliance with policies, procedures, laws, regulations and DOE / NNSA orders.
- Assistin training personnel in various accounting routines and procedures.
- Perform project accounting activities within PeopleSoft including set-up of contracts, projects, and activities.
- Interface and collaborate with the Finance Accounting and FP&A teams, Program Managers and Project Analysts, as needed.
- Analyze and coordinate cost transfer transactions, including internal customer interface, ensuring compliance to procedures.
- Prepare cost overrun reports, analyze, and communicate to internal project managers to ensure timely resolution.
- Perform special projects as requested.
- Processaccounting documents from various sources in accordance with established accounting policies and procedures.
- Prepareand submitassigned journal entries and account reconciliations and maintain working papers required to record accounting activities.
- Compiledata for periodic accounting reports for distribution.
- Analyzedata to identify recurring problems, then investigates and recommends corrective action.
- Analyzeand interprets accounting data and presents conclusions to management.
- Assistin the development of detailed procedures and work instructions.
You Must Have
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance and 2 years of relevant experience or a High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 4 years relevant experience
- Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
- Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
- United States Citizenship
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
- Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
