Working under general supervision, performs a wide variety of credit and collections activities to identify, monitor and cancel / reinstate delinquent accounts via telephone or correspondence, in an effort to achieve current payment status.

Works with corporate membership and cash control on invoicing and electronic billing. Performs manual processes required for Administrative Services Only (ASO) billing for all SDC groups.

This position has the option to work hybrid; Centerville, Ohio area residents preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews accuracy of premium collections for SDC fully insured and alternately funded group accounts. Works with Membership and Cash control to rectify errors.
  • Monitors accounts with balances over 90 days for collection status in order to pursue collection of accounts. Contacts groups via phone and email to collect undue balances.
  • Provides initial authorization of groups requesting reinstatement based on established credit guidelines and group's previous payment history.
  • Reviews payments in CMS system and notifies Cash Control if transfers are to be made or corrections for misapplied payments.
  • Evaluates membership, customer service, and accounts receivable systems to ensure proper payment of claims based on group's premium payment status.

Reconciles SDC to corporate accounting system.

  • Maintains broker-related information in ACT and work with brokers to complete BAAs.
  • Reviews monthly paid-to-date and cancellation reports, working with Specialty Account Managers to contact groups to rectify issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in business administration, finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education / training and experience.
  • 3 years of experience in insurance premium billing and collections, or equivalent experience in financial services.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of credit and collections processes and related legal proceedings.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) and accounting systems skills.
  • Good customer service and payment negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of insurance premium billing processes.
