Requirements Gathering
Collaborates with the business and with data analysts tounderstand requirements and business objectives for relevantreports & visualizations as well as underlying data model.
Capable of identifying relevant data sourcesand attributes for use in model
DataModeling :
Designing and documentingefficient conceptual logical and physical data models to supportbusiness requirements.
Understands how todeliver row and columnlevel security within the Power BI semanticmodel.
Needs to be able to establish reusablesemantic data models within Power BI.
Familiarity with running tabular Editor Best PracticeAnalyzer for adhering to modeling and DAX best practices.
Creating relationships between tables and optimizing datastructures.
Data Source ConnectivitySetup :
Connecting to various datasources (APIs Big Query ArcGIS map and feature layers SQL databasesExcel files etc.) including streaming datasets.
Ensuring seamless data extraction andtransformation.
Collaborating with the membersof OIT Integrations team to ascertain available integrationpatterns.
DAXFormulas :
Proficiency in writing DAX(Data Analysis Expressions) formulas.
Calculatedcolumns measures and custom calculations.
Report Creation :
Designing and developing interactive and visuallyappealing reports and dashboards.
Incorporatingslicers visuals and drillthrough functionality including streamingand ArcGIS visuals.
Needs to be cognizant of andadhere to accessibility standards (section 508).
Capable of optimizing Power BI reports or makingsuggestions to underlying data model for performance including theuse of DAX Studio and built in Power BI performancetools.
It is expected that the developer willfollow organizational patterns for source and version control forPower BI files and be able to utilize Azure DevOps as appropriatewithin that process.
