  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, InDesign and Premiere Pro) experience preferred

Position Summary The Associate Director of Marketing and Communications will assist the Director of Communications and Public Relations in all aspects of promoting, branding, marketing, communicating and publicizing the UGA School of Law.

Duties are directed and guided by an approved strategic plan for communicating / marketing the law school and will guide all work processes.

This employee should be flexible, collaborative, and open to meeting the needs of the law school. This role will have some after hour and weekend work necessary for social media monitoring and attendance at a few Law School events.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and / or Competencies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Skilled in managing multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
  • Ablity to interact with media, outside vendors and various audiences
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Working knowledge of Drupal, WordPress and Mailchimp is a plus
  • Knowledge of Associated Press Stylebook
  • Ability to work independently and conceptualize projects as well as bring them to fruition
  • Knowledge of social media acumen for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X / Twitter and YouTube
  • Basic photography and videography skills as well as the ability to edit and develop finished projects

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to crouch on an occasional basis (for photography purposes)

  • Assist with the production of the school’s print and digital publications such as the alumni magazine, e-communications to various audiences, the annual dean’s report, assorted brochures and collateral to support admissions efforts, advertisements as well as other print and electronic messaging
  • Capture key law school moments in photographs and videos
  • Create in-house videos that will be shared on various law school platforms

  • Promote a positive image of the law school by implementing the school’s strategic communications plan and branding initiatives, writing media releases and articles, pitching law school stories and experts to media outlets
  • Draft speeches for the dean
  • Respond to inquiries from the media and general public
  • Attend public functions as a law school representative
  • Create branded items for law school use

Percentage of time Duties / Responsibilities

  • Manage the law school’s social media presence
  • Create and regularly post messages to the school’s social media platforms with content related to the school’s strategic communications plan
  • Oversee the messaging pipeline
  • Ensure adherence to law school / UGA branding policies
  • Continuously monitor social platforms for any problem comments, inappropriate external references or general inquiries
  • Provide regular analysis of activity and growth of social reach

  • Manage law school digital / social media marketing (advertising) campaigns with the goal of increasing prospective student applications, event attendance and fundraising as well as general awareness
  • Define campaign objectives, oversee creative execution that adheres to current branding guidelines, and conduct return on investment analyses

Update and create portions of the law school’s website and messaging for the digital kiosk system

Serve as a liaison to UGA Marketing and Communications and work cooperatively to promote the image of the law school and the university as a whole by sharing information and ensuring the law school adheres to UGA branding / identity guidelines and crisis communications policies and procedures
