SUMMARY - Revised :
We are currently seeking a Pharmacy Tech to join our Red Lower Level Pharmacy team. This position is full-time with benefits, 80 hours per pay period, evening shift, and every 3rd weekend.
5000 Sign-On Bonus

Purpose of this position : Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties allowable by law, while maintaining a favorable image of the pharmacy within the hospital and in the community
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Answers phones for the pharmacy department and directs calls to appropriate personnel
- Maintains knowledge of the Hospital Credit and Collection Policy and other related policies
- Prepackages, prepares, labels, and hands out prescriptions after they are checked by a registered pharmacist
- Maintains cash registers, credit card machines, and reporting for cash transactions
- Prepares daily deposits for the cashier’s office
- Bills and credits patient medications
- Stocks inventory in Pharmacy
- Routinely checks and removes outdated and expired medications
- Delivers medications to patient care and ancillary areas and picks up new orders as scheduled
- Files prescriptions and reports
- Maintains the pharmacy in a clean and organized fashion
- Enters outpatient prescriptions
- Obtains and records patient drug histories
- Triages orders, determines priorities, processes orders, and notifies the pharmacist as appropriate
- Performs various calculations to determine the correct dose using weight
- Identifies the appropriate product to process based on the prescription order
- Triages insurance rejections and initiates prior authorization claims as needed
- Uses appropriate pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols
- Maintains a working knowledge of general chemical and physical properties of drugs
- Compounding medications as per Minnesota Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations
- Is responsible for safe and careful handling of chemotherapeutic medications
- Assists with other duties as assigned but only after appropriate training
