Position Overview :

Responsible for directing, developing and overseeing the general health and well being of Mediacom employees, and adherence to safety policy’s and procedures.

Ensures compliance with OSHA, state, local, or industry specific regulations. Schedules and participates in safety audits on a regular basis.

Leads and directs staff in implementing and coordinating activities related to safety, risk management, damage claims, loss prevention and controls.

Ensures managers and supervisors are focused on safety training, following proper procedures, recording / reporting accidents, and mitigating safety risks across the company.

Position Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for developing, implementing and coordinating activities related to safety, risk management, damage claims, loss prevention, and control for the region.
  • Review and complete reports weekly; inform Human Resources in a clear, concise and timely manner of unresolved safety issues.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to ensure adherence to Mediacom’s Safety Program.
  • Provide guidance and work closely with supervisors and managers to adhere to Mediacom’s safety program.
  • Develop a systemic process to collect data, track and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting to region.
  • Record, process and track OSHA logs to ensure accuracy and compliance by region.
  • Train employees and direcs personnel in region on safety related topics.
  • Oversee that safety violations are reported promptly and accurately.
  • Subject matter expert for the region.
  • Assure compliance with all OSHA and other regulatory entities.
  • Contribute to the overall vision of being the industry leader in safety.
  • 25 - 50 % travel is required to perform safety training and audits of safety program.
  • Investigate Workers Comp, auto, and general liability incidents, accidents, complaints and report to Area Director and Sr.

Manager Human Resources.

  • Work closely with local supervision and management to mitigate unsafe acts, or conditions found during these investigations.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Position Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Occupational Safety, Safety Management, related field or equivalent industry experience.
  • Preferred : 3 - 5 years’ experience in Telecommunication industry and / or implementing a safety and risk program.
  • Required : First Aid / CPR certified.
  • Required : Up to 25 50 % travel is required. Must be flexible and willing to travel on short notice to various locations within the region if necessary.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills previous management experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT regulations, federal and local laws / regulations.
  • Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office Products; Excel, Word, Outlook.
