Position Overview
The overall mission of the HR Operational Excellence department is to evolve the Dutch Bros HR model into the next phase so we can bring greater consistency and simplicity to how we work, innovate the way we deliver our HR programs and processes, and ensure we are investing our time in proactive, predictive, and engaging experiences.
Using 'lean-agile methodology' in how we work, we will bring discipline, transparency, and accelerated ways of designing & delivering inclusive HR solutions together across the enterprise.
This combination aims to use the best parts of both methods, focusing on efficiency (Lean) and flexibility (Agile) to deliver transformational solutions across Dutch Bros HR processes and services.
The HR Business Process Improvement Engineer role is ideal for someone who has a passion for HR strategy, HR process development, enjoys building collaborative business relationships, and is energized by leveraging their HR expertise to drive change.
As the HR Business Process Improvement Engineer, you will collaborate closely with Human Resource and business leaders to understand their requirements, identify opportunities for process optimization, and develop innovative solutions to address business needs.
This person will be responsible for analyzing Human Resource processes, systems, and data to provide valuable insights and recommendations to improve overall Human Resource efficiency and effectiveness.
This involves understanding the intricacies of our business operations and leveraging your knowledge of HR and structured problem solving to suggest process improvements and innovations.
This position is based in the Phoenix, AZ area and is not eligible for remote work.
Key Result Areas (KRAs)
Stay abreast of relevant HR laws, regulations, and compliance requirements to ensure that HR processes within Dutch Bros adhere to legal standards :
- Maintain In-depth knowledge of legal, compliance, industry changes and best practices with a deep expertise in a variety of Human Resources areas
- Provide expert advice on systematizing HR best practices, industry trends, and compliance standards into a standard process
- Mitigate risks by identifying potential legal and compliance issues within business processes and develop strategies, processes and systems to address them
Leverage Process Engineering and Lean-Agile methodologies to optimize end-to-end HR process and HR services :
- Responsible for conducting detailed analysis of Human Resources processes, systems, and data to identify areas for improvement
- Leverage lean-agile methodologies to successfully apply pull concepts to current and future HR processes
- Create standards and processes where no standard and / or processes exist and continuously improve existing standards and processes
- Participate in the design, testing, and implementation of Human Resource systems and tools
- Routine collaboration with Key Stakeholders to gather requirements and understand business objectives
- Partner with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and technology solutions
- Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to drive informed decision-making
- Design future state processes including process improvement, redesign, transformation and opportunities for automation
- Lead the transition of process development transformation from project to operations to ensure a smooth and successful transition, including control and sustainability plans
- Partner with leaders to drive results, ensuring smooth transitions during process implementation and the linkage between project and business / customer priorities.
- Prepare and deliver clear and succinct presentations to effectively communicate synthesized information and analytical results to stakeholders and leaders at all leadership levels within the organization to drive project objectives
- Facilitate effective, cross-functional working sessions with project stakeholders at all levels of the organization, managing group dynamics and providing technical expertise on process and reengineering activities (e.
g. value stream workshops, lean workshops, Kaizen events, Gembas, etc.)
Defines, develops and evaluates performance metrics to establish process success, including working with multiple stakeholders, to ensure cohesive and reachable measures of success.
Reviews data post-implementation to measure success, as well as, identifies areas for further improvement
- Successfully deliver assigned projects and initiatives within scope, budget, and timeline
- Demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional growth by staying informed about the latest industry trends, methodologies, and best practices.

Job Qualifications
7+ years of combined experience as a HR Generalist and as a Business Process Engineer or a similar role, with a focus on process optimization and organizational efficiency (e.
g. Lean, Operational Excellence, Six Sigma)
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, required
- In-depth knowledge of HR principles, practices, laws and regulations
- Able to apply a balanced approach to process rigor and practical agility
- Strong diplomacy and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage large, complex, simultaneous assignments with potentially conflicting priorities and deadlines
- Strong analytical, project and process management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
- Proficient with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite
- HR Certification (PHR and / or SHRM-CP), preferred
- Six Sigma and / or Lean certification, preferred
- Business Analysis Certification, preferred
