Summary :

Quality Manager is responsible for the overall compliance of the Quality Management System (QMS).

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

  • Review changes to industry standards and understand how to apply them.
  • Review and coordinate implementation of applicable revisions to internal procedures to maintain and uphold AS9100, ISO9000, Nadcap, and OEM standards
  • Maintain internal auditing program to meet industry and customer requirements
  • Uphold ITAR compliance
  • Direct, plan, and lay out the details of inspection standards, methods, and procedures, including those used by the repair station, in complying with all applicable FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and manufacturer's specifications and recommendations
  • Has final authority in the release of products / services to the customer
  • Ensure that corrective and preventive actions taken are effective and implemented in a timely manner
  • Assist, supervise, and direct all personnel assigned to the site’s Quality Department
  • Ascertain that all inspections are properly performed on all completed work and that the proper inspection records, reports, and forms used are properly executed prior to releasing the product / service to customer
  • Perform the duties of and provide training for Contract Review
  • Maintain organizational freedom to identify problems related to quality and correct, initiate action for their correction, or stop any work or activity that violates the established quality standards.
  • Ensure conformance to quality program requirements through external / internal audits, corrective action program and qualify associates through testing and training.
  • Maintain supplier qualification to establish their ability to perform work meeting quality standards and obtaining process approvals.
  • Responsible for shop card review prior to certification and shipment.
  • Responsible for furnace surveys certification and equipment calibration, including recall system, thermocouple wire, and hardness testing standards.
  • Use personal protective equipment as required by the job, including but not limited to the wearing of safety shoes, gloves, and eye protection
  • Perform duties safely, responsibly, and proficiently, observing and complying with all safety and health rules (OSHA, MTI, and SDS Standards), including safe operation of all equipment
  • Perform similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates and shall exercise any additional powers that are or may be legally conferred upon the position by the Business Unit Director or President

Qualifications and Required / Preferred Skills :

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, with 10+ years of experience in engineering and quality industry standards and understanding of how to apply them.
  • Experience and practical knowledge of commercial heat treatment of aerospace alloys including steel, aluminum, titanium, nickel, brass, copper, etc.
  • Nadcap and / or aerospace industry experience
  • Thoroughly familiar with commercial (AMS, ASTM), aircraft, and aerospace specifications, ISO, AS, QS and TS quality systems.
  • AS9100 Lead Auditor
  • Six Sigma Green Belt / Lean Manufacturing skills and / or experience
  • Comprehension of QMS Principles
  • Read and understand customer specifications and drawings
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Experience utilizing Root Cause and Corrective Action principles
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other staff, vendors, and customers
  • Capable of mentoring direct and indirect reports
  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong level of accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize and adhere to strict deadlines
  • High level of integrity; ability to handle confidential information
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
