Access & User Experience Librarian (Tenure-Track)

Position Summary

Information Duties Kares Library at Athens State University seeks applicants for the position of Access & User Experience Librarian.

A student-centered, public-facing position, the successful candidate will lead assessment efforts for the library’s in-person and online services and programs.

As part of this responsibility, the person in this position will ensure that the library’s Information Desk functions as a helpful, consistent, and proactive resource for the university’s unique student population.

This is a 12-month, tenure-track position that reports to the Director of Kares Library. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Creates and enforces circulation policies and procedures
• Hires, trains, and supervises work study students assigned to the Information Desk
• Maintains records and runs relevant reports within the OCLC WMS and Banner systems
• Serves as the Library’s accessibility officer
• Leads assessment efforts that measure the in-person and online experience of library users
• Shares user feedback and data with stakeholders and suggests solutions to problems
• Investigates and adopts technology and trends that will enhance user experience
• Provides reference and research support services
• Fulfills subject liaison duties to assigned departments within the College of Arts &n Sciences
• Delivers information literacy instruction in various formats
• Engages in continuous professional development
• Contributes scholarship to the profession
• Serves on library, university, and professional committees
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

• Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program
• Exemplary communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to identify priorities; flexibility to change priorities as needed
• Curiosity for learning new things and solving problems
• Aptitude for organizing and completing simultaneous projects
• Stamina and drive to complete long-term projects
• Comfort and confidence in regards to decision-making
• Availability to work evening and weekend hours

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED :

• Experience working in an academic library
• Experience with hiring, training, and managing staff
• Familiarity with integrated library system software
• Familiarity with user experience design theory and principles
• Familiarity with assessment methods and strategies used in academic libraries
• Familiarity with the role of library faculty members in higher education

Posting Detail Information University Information Located in historic Athens, Alabama, Athens State University offers junior and senior-level coursework to community college graduates and transfer students holding sufficient credits from other institutions.

Presently, over 3,100 students have selected Athens State because of its neighborly environment where 50 majors and degree programs are offered, with courses taught by a supportive and exceptional faculty.

Approximately 80% of the students are enrolled in at least one online course. The typical student is a working adult who commutes.
