Mission or Goal of Unit : The Department of Pediatrics, division of PediatricHematology / Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation at the Children’s Hospital ofRichmond (CHoR) is seeking a Pediatric Neuro-Oncologist to support theprogram of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology.

Children’s Hospital of Richmond of theVirginia Commonwealth University Health System has committed itself to transformingthe division into a model academic unit devoted to excellence in clinical care,teaching, and clinical, translational, and basic research.

Chief Purpose of this position : The department seeks a Pediatric Neuro-Oncologist that will provide support to the division in itscontinuity of care for new and existing patients.

The division and CHoR arepart of the NCI-designated Massey Cancer Center. Currently, the division is theonly facility providing pediatric stem cell transplantation in Virginia.

ThePediatric Neuro-oncology section includes an outstanding team of neurosurgeonsand neuroradiology expertise and will work closely with the adultneuro-oncology program headed by Dr.

Mariza Daras. Additionally, the divisionoffers a Pediatric Hematology-Oncology fellowship with support for a fourthyear.

Position Responsibilities :

  • Teaching : Faculty member will have teaching responsibilitiesin the area of Critical Care Medicine. Faculty member will provide teaching andmentorship to medical students, residents, and Fellows when applicable.
  • Research : Faculty member will have working knowledge in basicresearch methods and be able to participate in clinical, translational, and outcomesresearch that division may play an active role in pursuing.
  • Service : Faculty member will serve on departmental,hospital, or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, as well as professionalactivities through journal review, conference presentations, etc.
  • Clinical : Faculty member will serve as a pediatric neuro-oncologistfor the Department of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric HematologyOncology.

Required Qualifications :

  • Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Hematology / Oncology
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications :

Previous experience in an academic medical center
