What will I bedoing?
As a Manager for the Houston-Galveston Area Council Metropolitan Planning Organization, you will be solving regional transportation issues and leading on ground transportation programs for the fourth largest Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) in the country.
The Transportation Programs Manager will guide a team of staff in the development and implementation of a variety of on-ground transportation programs to improve the movement of people and goods throughout the Houston-Galveston region.
- Leadership and management of transportation programs focused on improving safety, congestion management, and system operations, including scope management, consultant oversight, and intra-agency coordination.
- Ensure timely completion and continuous updates of program deliverables.
- Provide guidance to the Transportation Policy Council (the MPO's Policy Board) regarding transportation program efforts and related issues.
- Communication with regional stakeholders regarding transportation programs led by the MPO.
- Identify and manage workloads, training opportunities, and staff development.
- Facilitate regional Transportation Program activities as outlined in the agency's Unified Planning Work Program.
- Lead and manage work products related to new and expanded transit operations; transportation systems management and operations, including incident management and travel demand management;
and traffic safety education.
Incorporate robust and innovative public engagement strategies, long-range goals, and performance measures into program management and oversight.
KeyQualifications
- Demonstrated experience with Metropolitan Planning Organizations or relevant organizations such as state Departments of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration.
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and policies related to transportation planning and program implementation.
- Experience preparing technical transportation documents, managing projects, and personnel budgets.
- Exceptional project management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Understand the needs of key transportation stakeholders along with the ability to build consensus among diverse groups.
- Experience developing statements of work, managing contracts, and other procurement-related activities.
- Ability to effectively lead and manage a diverse staff in the hybrid work environment.
- Demonstrated leadership experience collaborating and working with others in a faced-paced dynamic environment.
Do you have...
- Bachelor's degree in an applicable academic discipline orrelatedfield of study
- 5years of experienceworking with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in urban planning, public administration, or related field of study.
- Master's degree in urban planning, public administration, or related field of study.
- 8 years of experience working in transportation planning or transportation program implementation and related project management.
- Experience working with Metropolitan Planning Organizations.
Expected Hiring Range
- The expected hiring range for this position is $115,000 to $125,000
