Accounting Specialist

POSITION PURPOSE

This position will provide mission critical, integrated, operational support for the Accounting Department’s infrastructure essentials.

Pay : Starting at $31.25 / hr

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

• Calculate subcontractor payments according to subcontract terms and rates and ensure proper accounting and job costing.
• Ensure all deadlines are met as part of the accounting close process.
• Ensure timely payments to subcontractors.
• Written and verbal customer service skills are essential for responding to inquiries from subcontractors, as well as internal departments.
• Build close working relationships with subcontractors, as well as internal department members.
• Review and improve processes to ensure a high level of customer service.
• Attention to detail and accuracy is critical to this role.
• Resolve any disputes and issues on invoices communicated from subcontractors.
• Report performance metrics monthly to senior management.
• Develop and exhibit expert level of technical ability for areas of responsibility.
• Take full responsibility for timeliness, completeness and accuracy and meeting metric goals.
• Review and improve processes to ensure a high level of customer service.
• Ensures proper maintenance, filing, and storage of records.
• Prepare metrics and variance explanations on program variances.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with customers, other members of the billing department, the payroll department and account managers.

Exceptional customer service to customers, account managers and other staff members. Weekly and monthly reporting to direct supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION : BA / BS in Accounting, Finance or Business Management, required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED : 5+ years experience in Accounting or Finance. Medical or government contract accounting experience preferred.

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables.

TECHNOLOGICAL ABILITY : Competent in the use of MS Word and Excel. Proficiency in Workday (or other relevant ERP system).
