At Shef, we are building a community-based food marketplace connecting local shefs and eaters. Shefs can sell their food directly to consumers, and busy individuals / families can outsource their cooking to amazing local food sellers.

ROLE SUMMARY

This is a critical and high-impact role on our supply team, leading the charge on shef acquisition. You would have ownership of the top of the funnel (from lead identification / acquisition through qualification for onboarding).

You’ll be driving both inbound and outbound acquisition strategies, and ultimately responsible for applicant volume and quality.

It’s an individual contributor role in the near term, with potential growth opportunities as we scale up nationally.

LOCATION

This role is in the San Francisco Bay Area, where our team works in a hybrid model, in an Embarcadero office 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate inbound applicants (job listings, referral partnerships, ads etc.)
  • Outbound prospecting (typically to more established food sellers)
  • Managing applicant funnel (educating, selling, closing, etc)
  • Qualifying applicants (intake questionnaires, screening calls, tastings etc.)
  • Managing tastings (scheduling, coordinating, scoring, decision making, etc.)
  • Accountability for shef acquisition metrics (lead volume, quality, and conversion)
  • Shef acquisition strategy (charting the course for the immediate, medium, and long term)
  • Owning / improving all top of funnel systems and processes
  • It’s an individual contributor role in the near term, with potential growth opportunities as we scale up nationally.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

  • 3+ years of sales experience
  • Successful track record of lead generation and outbound selling
  • Experience selling to food merchants

Bonus) culinary knowledge / understanding of different segments of food merchants

  • Startup experience
