Job Summary

The Assessment Director will lead the collaborative development and implementation of a comprehensive plan for the assessment of student learning outcomes at the course, program, educational pathway, and institutional levels.

With a primary focus on supporting faculty-led assessment efforts, the Director will work closely with faculty, the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, and administrators to develop academic assessment plans, support high-quality assessment, and promote a culture of continuous improvement across the institution.

The Director will co-chair the college assessment committee, lead assessment work teams and support Department Assessment Coordinators to sustain high-quality assessment efforts.

The Director will demonstrate a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, integrity, and diversity in the performance of job duties.

Essential Functions

60% - Leadership, Planning, and Implementation

  • Collaborate with faculty to develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive plan for the assessment of student learning outcomes at the course, program, educational pathway, co-curricular and institutional levels.
  • Provide strategic short and long-term planning and direction for assessment programs and activities to ensure accreditor criteria and recommendations are met.
  • Provide leadership and support to faculty, staff and administrators to develop student learning outcomes and use assessment results to drive improvement in teaching and learning
  • Collaborate with the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) to facilitate faculty and staff professional development for student outcomes assessment.
  • Collaborate with the Student Outcomes Committee (SOC), the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE), Student Affairs, Guided Pathways for Success (GPS) team leads, and college and district-wide colleagues to ensure alignment of assessment program with organizational missions and goals.
  • Co-chair the college assessment committee, lead assessment work teams and the Department Assessment Coordinators to sustain high-quality assessment efforts.
  • Cultivate and maintain a culture of assessment in the MCC community inclusive of faculty, administration, staff, and students.

40% - Communication, Reporting and Continuous Improvement

Represent the college to the public, other agencies and partners at meetings and conferences related to assessment and accreditation;

create and maintain effective partnerships to further program development and success

  • Develop internal events to share and promote assessment results and activities
  • Conduct surveys and focus groups to elicit feedback from faculty, staff, and students on assessment processes and needs
  • Maintain the college's student outcomes assessment repository, including current and archival content of assessment results, activities, and resources
  • Develop and maintain training materials to prepare faculty and staff to implement assessment
  • Facilitate the development and writing of assessment plans and reports to ensure evidence-based continuous improvement; Create and publish an annual college assessment report
  • Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) to collect, analyze and disseminate assessment data for informed decision-making and continued improvement
  • Maintain currency in the field of assessment best practices through research, networking, and conference attendance

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, organizational development or directly related field and four years of experience in areas such as planning, developing, implementing, administering, and evaluating instructional services programs which experience includes two years of management and supervisory experience.

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, organizational development or directly related field and six years of experience in areas such as planning, developing, implementing, administering, and evaluating instructional services programs which experience includes two years of management and supervisory experience.

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and eight years of experience in areas such as planning, developing, implementing, administering, and evaluating instructional services programs which experience includes two years of management and supervisory experience.

High School Diploma / GED and ten years of experience in areas such as planning, developing, implementing, administering, and evaluating instructional services programs which experience includes two years of management and supervisory experience.

Desired Qualifications
