SUMMARY
Family Service League is seeking a per-diem Evening Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for our DASH program in Hauppauge. The Evening Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team working in a 24 / 7 Crisis Stabilization Center serving children and adults.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Nurse Practitioner will conduct psychiatric and crisis assessments.
- Provide time limited medication management to children, adolescents, and adults with the full range of DSM diagnoses in an acute care, outpatient setting.
- Assess and prescribe Medication Assisted Treatment for individuals with appropriate SUD diagnoses.
- Ensure the health and safety of all staff and clients during emergencies.
- Health monitoring (including vital signs).
- Administration of intramuscular injections.
- The Nurse Practitioner will prescribe and administer PRN medication to patients on site at DASH.
- Provide covering medications through telehealth or other means, when needed.
- Complete all clinical documentation in an electronic medical record in accordance with NYS office of Mental Health regulations.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, partnering with Social Workers, Registered Nurses, Case Managers, and Peers to make collaborative treatment decisions.
- The Nurse Practitioner will act as a resource to all team members, conferencing, and triaging cases.
- Complete training and maintain proficiency with de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques.
- Attendance at routine case conferences / team meetings.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Nurse Practitioner Degree, including state license and DEA credentials, required.
Waiver to prescribe Medication Assisted Treatment required.
At least 1 year of clinical experience in a behavioral health setting required.
Ability to administer IM injections.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records required.
Excellent interpersonal skills required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
Evening and some Holiday availability required.
Willing to pick up per-diem shifts as needed.
